Federico Fantelli is a PhD student en cotutelle at the University of Palermo and at the University of Fribourg. His research interests lie at the intersection between Aesthetics and Philosophy of Mind. Following a phenomenologically informed approach, he aims at clarifying the nature of our experience of pictures. In particular, he is interested in questions like the following: how is the pictorial space constituted? Are imagination and perception both involved in the process? What is the role (usually overlooked) of the subject’s sensorimotor apparatus when looking at pictures? He is also interested in neighbouring topics such as Mental Imagery, Spatial Representation, and Virtual Reality, seeking to bridge a phenomenological approach and the recent debates in analytic philosophy.
