Jean Tain

After completing a Master’s degree in Contemporary Philosophy (2015) and then in Literary Theory (2017) at the EHESS and the École Normale Supérieure (Paris), Jean Tain served as a Temporary Teaching and Research Fellow (ATER) in the Department of Philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (2022–2024) and at the University of Lorraine in Nancy (2024–2025).
He earned his PhD in Philosophy in 2023 with a dissertation entitled “The Mediation of Literary Texts in Walter Benjamin and Theodor W. Adorno.” His current research brings the Frankfurt School tradition into dialogue with contemporary issues in aesthetics and the philosophy of art.
Jean Tain is also a regular contributor to the journals Alternatives théâtrales (Brussels–Paris) and Scènes Magazine (Geneva), particularly on the creation and staging of operas.
