Doris Durán Napolitano

Doris is a visiting PhD student at the #PopHealthLab currently pursuing her PhD in Epidemiology at McGill University in Canada. Her doctoral research focuses on the intersection of the COVID-19 pandemic and health disparities for cancer-related outcomes in Latin America. She explores Multiple Cause of Death methods to understand these complexities. 

Doris holds a dentistry degree from Universidad Finis Terrae in Chile and a Master’s in Public Health from Universidad de Chile. Her research has focused on cancer, oral health and health policies from a social epidemiology framework. She has collaborated on government-funded research projects assessing the impact of the Chilean health reform and measuring oral health inequalities in Chile’s Metropolitan area.

She is visiting the #PopHealthLab with a Young Researchers Grant from the University of Fribourg to evaluate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on chronic disease mortality in Switzerland from 2011 to 2022.
