Axelle Braggion, MD
Axelle Braggion, MD, is a PhD student at the #PopHealthLab at the University of Fribourg. She holds a Federal Diploma of Human Medicine and an MD from the University of Lausanne. Previously, she conducted research on the risk of unscheduled cesarean delivery among advanced maternal age women, and on the relationship between SARS-CoV-2 infection and indoor air quality.
Axelle’s PhD project focuses on the epidemiology of adult early-onset cancers, that is, cancer diagnoses before the age of 50. More specifically, she aims to assess the long-term changes in the burden of adult early-onset cancers in Switzerland, in comparison to later-onset cancers. She will study all cancers combined, specific cancer types such as breast cancer by stages, as well as the screening uptake and practices in adults younger than 50, by using population-based data from cancer registries, hospital statistics, and health surveys.
