Viktoria Gastens
Viktoria Gastens is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the #PopHealthLab at the University of Fribourg and a practicing Community Pharmacist. She holds a Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Master degree in Pharmacy from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and the Swiss Pharmacist Diploma from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). Afterwards, she completed her PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Institute of Primary Health Care (BIHAM) at the University of Bern as part of the Graduate School for Health Sciences (GHS) and the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+). In her PhD project, she studied preventive care and life expectancy among older multimorbid adults with special attention to the development and validation of a prediction model within a cohort study of older multimorbid patients with polypharmacy.
Her current research at the #PopHealthLab focuses on the effect of pharmacist interventions on hypertension management and preventive care in older multimorbid adults. Her research aims to explore strategies to improve preventive care for chronic diseases.
