Daniela Anker, PhD

Daniela was a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Arnaud Chiolero. Her doctoral research focused on the relationship between blood pressure and frailty in older adults. She successfully defended her PhD thesis at the University of Bern in April 2021 and supported the #PopHealthLab as a research fellow between April 2021 until July 2022.

Doris Durán Napolitano

Doris joined the #PopHealthLab team as a visiting PhD student. Her research evaluated the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on chronic disease mortality in Switzerland from 2011 to 2022, under the supervision of Dr. Cristian Carmeli.

Emna El May

Emna supported the #PopHealthLab as a research assistant from February 2021 to April 2022. She was active in the Corona Immunitas study, specifically analyzing data and writing reports for Corona Immunitas Fribourg.

Drinbardha Elshani

Drinbardha was an MSc student in Experimental Biomedical Research at the University of Fribourg. She completed her Masters thesis at the #PopHealthLab under the supervision of Dr. Stéphane Cullati and Dr. Rose van der Linden on the effect of life course conditions on the risk of developing cancer in the advanced stages of life.

Adina-Mihaela Epure, MD PhD

Adina was a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Arnaud Chiolero. Her doctoral research focused on early life determinants of carotid intima-media thickness in children and aimed to inform cardiovascular disease prevention in a life course perspective. She successfully defended her PhD thesis at the University of Lausanne in April 2021 and has supported the #PopHealthLab as a research fellow afterwards. 

Olivier Jung

Olivier completed his MMed Master thesis about the epidemiology of lung cancer in the canton of Fribourg under the supervision of Prof. Arnaud Chiolero and Dr. Rose van der Linden. He successfully defended in June 2023.

Josephine Jackisch

Josephine was a postdoctoral researcher at the #PopHealthLab, under the supervision of Dr. Cristian Carmeli. Her research used causal inference techniques to investigate how social environmental factors and family linkages affect health outcomes across the life course.

Sarah Mah, PhD

Sarah joined the #PopHealthLab as a visiting researcher. Her research examined the relationship between household crowding in adolescence and premature mortality using the Swiss National Cohort.

Lucie Mettler

Lucie completed her MMed Master thesis about the epidemiology of breast cancer in the canton of Fribourg under the supervision of Prof. Arnaud Chiolero and Dr. Rose van der Linden. She successfully defended in June 2024.

Berenike Quecke & Yannick Graf

Berenike and Yannick worked on their Master project entitled, "Caesarean section and offspring obesity in young adulthood: update of a systematic review with meta-analysis" under the supervision of Dr. Stéphane Cullati and Dr. Cristian Carmeli. They succesfully defended in March 2021.

Ilire worked on the social determinants of gut microbiome composition under the supervision of Dr. Stéphane Cullati. 

Lisa Sorrentino

Lisa worked on her MMed Master project entitled, “Cardiovascular mortality trends in Switzerland since 1995 by age and sex” under the supervision of Dr. Cristian Carmeli and Prof. Arnaud Chiolero. She successfully defended in March 2022.

Agnė Ulyte, PhD

Agnė supported the #PopHealthLab as a postdoctoral researcher from April to September 2021. Together with Dr. Stéphane Cullati, she examined the implications of socioeconomic status during the COVID-19 pandemic using data from the Corona Immunitas study.

Cornelia Wagner, PhD

Cornelia was a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Stéphane Cullati and Dr. Cristian Carmeli. Her doctoral research focused on the potential effects of life course socioeconomic conditions on healthy ageing, focusing on how different educational trajectories across the life course predict the risk of multimorbidity and mortality. She successfully defended her PhD thesis at the University of Fribourg in February 2024. Cornelia also supported the #PopHealthLab as a research assistant.
